It’s all about the details

Restoration is all about the details. Felt Manor was originally built circa 1850 and underwent a major renovation in 1874, which took it from a two-story Greek Revival house to a three-story Second Empire manor. The mansard roof is a defining feature of Felt Manor, along with its elaborately trimmed dormer windows.

Each set of dormer windows is surrounded by beautifully carved decorative details. Painted green when we began the restoration, these decorative brackets couldn’t be saved and all needed to be replaced.

Lucky for us, our restoration team has an expert in creating custom millwork to match original historic details. This isn’t off-the-shelf big box store trim. It’s custom. Made out of mahogany. And gorgeous.

One step closer to a fully restored mansard level! On the exterior, at least. The interior is another story….
